For staters I suggest you avoid Marseille. If that is a city you would like to visit, do it by train as a day trip from Aix. Cassis is definitely worth a visit but after that I suggest wandering around the Var ( a department with some of the most beautiful scenery). Also you should probably enjoy the Cote Azur and drive along the scenic coastal highway. It starts to get really pretty near Arcs Draugion. But I would suggest you drive all the way to the Italian border and back. I know that actually passes St Paul de Vence but its a must see best enjoyed by car.
