After my divorce back in 2003, a friend of mine from Ireland who had moved to Saudi Arabia got me to go to Bahrain to meet her and some of her friends for Christmas and New Year! I loved it so much I went back for St Paddy's Day (March 2004), and ended up moving to Bahrain on my own in May of 2004! I spent two years there and then went to Japan, where I am now with my partner and our toddler, who was born here in Japan in December 2006! A few people at home said I wouldn't last 6 months on my own in a foreign country, but I proved them wrong, I managed to find work, accommodation and new friends and a new partner and now we have a baby!

Ok, you got me. Why do human beings want nothing to do with you??????????? Not the reason to travel alone. I travel alone cos' it's what I do, and it also it means I get to meet more people. Sharing the trip temporarily with someone only enhances the experience.. I agree with your words. Of course, when I travel it is for shorter bursts than Scott, but I do like to travel alone and I do it yearly. This summer I was in China traveling on my own completely for 3 weeks before meeting up with my wife in India. I have to say that traveling alone and then later with her BOTH had their positives and negatives. It was fun to see my wife and share experiences with her, but at the same time she is a completely different traveler than me and that part was difficult!!

I don't have to wait for anyone to be ready or be hurried by anyone waiting for me. There's no one to accuse me of stealing something which they've misplaced. There are no arguments over where to go, what to see, what to do, or when. Still I miss sharing all this with someone.
Ok, you got me. Why do human beings want nothing to do with you??????????? Yeah, I wanna know too...
