We read that most ATMs in Sweden do not accept foreign cards. Is this true, or do they just need a different PIN like in most European countries?

Do you use a different PIN when you visit Europe? I have used my Cards all over the world and never had to use a different number!!

My wife had no trouble using her card in Sweden..but that was in the shops.

yes, your bank may do the configurations themselves, but most American cards operate on a different PIN system in Europe. It varies from country to country, so has been our experience. OK, works in shops, good. We just need to make sure so we know how much cash to get out for an upcoming trip. Thanks!

Hi Wisconsin,

There shouldn´t be any problems to use the ATM in Sweden.
In some shops Amex is not accepted due to many scams, but VISA or MasterCard is always ok to use.
When travelling to USA I have always been able to use my card (MasterCard) with my PIN number and it should work the other way around as well.
