I worked for the Head of Legal and the Director of Knowledge Management, his job was basically to keep the firm running smoothly and to handle company business i.e. mergers etc. we also had to re-organise the firm after a big merger with another TV company and we held a lot of meetings with the television governing body etc.
Plus the Legal guy he done all the contracts for series sponsors, like at the beginning of a show, it would say and .... is sponsored by whoever! We would do these contracts!

LOL, I am sensing a little hint of sarcasm here, I assume you haven't had one for about 10 years give or take! You've been working your butt off...

Mind you I would rather be stuck in Thailand having not had a holiday than say, London or New York and not had one... blink.gif

Seconded! I got the train from Bath to London the other day and it was £87 return, with a young persons railcard (33% off

Holy crap, Sianeth - I got to Bath for 30 quid return last year, what the hell kinda ticket did you buy??

And I couldn't believe it when a guy in San Fransisco told me how much holiday time Americans get. Land of the free, my arse!

I don't have holidays at the moment - I work until I have enough money to travel again. Although at the moment I'm leaving winter in Australia to fly to the UK which is in summer, so I guess that ticks one box of your question. I won't be on holiday for the first month though!

Water Park? I don't recall a water park, but then I have been away from there for 2 years now! Is it new?
Oh restaurants, for sure! There are tons of good restaurants (and a word of advice if you use a taxi to get around please always call Speedy Taxis, don't use the local ones)! Give me a bit of time and I will get back to you so I can recall some of the places I went too etc. and the areas, that is what I am having problems with now, the area names! LOL! I will name as many places as I can remember!
Hang on I wonder if you mean Al Bander? Is that the park you are talking about? I spent a whole summer there once, its awesome!

Okay, ready...

Bars

Fiddlers Green (Diplomat Radisson SAS - Irish Bar) the Bar Manager there is an old friend of mine called Dee, and there is a guy called Joe, who is the best barman on the Island, if they both still work there!!
JJ's/BJ's - JJ's is the pub and BJ's is its sister nightclub, next door, there is also a traditional british fish and chip shop over the road!
Trader Vics - Polynesian style Cocktail Bar at the Ritz Carlton
Ric's Kountry Kitchen, a lively American Bar in Juffair, owned by a guy from Texas and a fave of the US Navy! Excellent bar staff and live music!
Wrangler - a wild west style bar at the Elite Hotel! The Manager there is an Indian guy called Madan, their bar staff are excellent too! They have BD9 on Thursdays where you pay a one off BD9 and all bottled beer and spirits are free, so long as its not a famous brand i..e Bacardi and you are happy to drink just your average white rum!

Restaurants

Ric's (as above) also does American home style cooking, breakfast, lunch and dinner!
Lanterns - Indian restaurant (can't remember where this is though but everyone will know it)
Al Fanar and Mondos both at the Radisson - Al Fanar is local cuisine and Mondos is Mediterranean (the Manager there was an old friend of mine too called Abdullah, he and Dee in Fiddlers should be married by now, if they are both still there)!
Blue Elephant - Thai near the Ritz Carlton (very nice)!
Le Mediteranee - Ritz Carlton
Waves - The Crowne Plaza - Buffet style with a wide range of seafood from around the Gulf
Hong Kong Chinese - Umm Al Hassam
Clay Oven - Adliya (Indian)
Senor Pacos - Mexican in Adliya also, best Margaritas ever...
Hash House in Adliya
Cocos - Adliya is a fab place for breakfast or lunch but very popular at weekends
Zoes - Adliya (delicious menu)

Places you should visit

Al Bander the amazingly gorgeous and fun resort in Sar, very popular with everyone! It has a bar in the middle of its main pool, and adjoins the ocean so there is lots of water sports etc. available! There are also chalets etc. you can hire out, and a bit further around the coast from here is

The Yacht Club! Definitely worth a visit! But not sure if you have to be with a member or not!

The Riffa Golf Club, if you like Golf!

The Seef Mall, an excellent shopping Mall in the Seef District

The Country Club out at Saar which has horse riding and other activities and has an nice bar and restaurant too

The Tree of Life - because you just have too!

The Bahrain Heritage Museum - Manama

The Royal Spa - Ritz Carlton - need I say more! Gorgeous...

Well these are but a few, let me know if you are interested in anything I haven't mentioned!

Meh - 5 degrees is better than nothing, and everyone will at least be in a 'summer' mood. I move up north to Scotland in a month anyway and the traveling starts again!

Well these are but a few, let me know if you are interested in anything I haven't mentioned!

You are a star, a wealth of information.

Friends of mine went in January and did not like Bahrain. So I am taking one of them back and doing it again. I think they had problems with taxi's and someone threw something at them as they drove by...which is a little sad, because from what I have read about Bahrain it seems odd that this happened.

Thanks for this list. If we get to the irish bar I will ask who the Bar Manager is..and if it is your friend I will say hi.

...I will let you know how it goes when we visit. As for the water park check out this link....it is a new park and looks awesome.
