Hi,

I know pretty much nothing about Thailand (shameful as it is I only just found it on the maps on travelpod lol so at least I know where it is now).

But, it's going to be the last stop on a 3 month journey (short for a rtw trip I know.. but it's the only chance we have to do this together) and we want to stay somewhere we can relax.

She really wants to stay on a beach, and I really want to go somewhere I can snorkel or possibly try scuba diving. We figure after being on the go go go we'll need somewhere to just unwind. (I'm going to go insane just sitting on a beach for 7 days.. so I need somewhere with something to do).

We really don't want to be in Bangkok much at all (basically get off the plane and head to wherever we are staying).. so can anyone recommend anywhere?

Budget is a bit of an issue as well. The cheaper the better - although at the end of the journey we'd rather live it up a bit than hostel it.

Thanks for any advice. I'm going to ask my travel agent as well, but I'd rather get advice from people who've been there and loved/hated somewhere.

someone can correct me i'm sure, but i'm starting in thailand and am looking to begin my rtw with a chill out on a beach... i'm probably going to go to one of the koh islands - samui, tao or phangan...
