That's wonderful. I'd love to help you with that. Check our tourism website http://www.tourism.gov.ph/ And yes, check this forum once in a while for updates.

HISTORIC CITY of VIGAN Ilocos Sur Vigan is “the best example of a planned Spanish colonial in Asia with its architecture reflecting the coming together of cultural elements from elsewhere in the Philippines, from China and from Europe, resulting in a culture and townscape that have no parallel anywhere in East and Southeast Asia.” (International Council of Monuments and Sites, ICMOS) This is the reason why Vigan City is inscribed in the UNESCO World List of Heritage Cities on December 2, 1999. http://www.vigancity.gov.ph/See our pics when we were in Vigan: http://www.travelpod.com/travel-blog-entri...74160/tpod.html

I agree. Siargao is truly a MUST-SEE. I am from Butuan and Surigao City is just 3 hours away then you ride a ferry to the beautiful island of Siargao thru Dapa or General Luna.
Check also the unspoiled beauty of Bucas Grande Island which is very near Siargao. Here you can find pristine lagoons with underground caves so beautiful, other commercially known sea destinations will pale in comparison.
And when you are into it, you have sooo many other great must-see places in Surigao del Sur: unspoiled falls, cold springs, Lanuza beaches and surfing areas, Hinatuans' underground cave with such clear, green water with soo many fishes - great site for diving and of course, the widest waterfalls in the country - Tinuy-an falls in Bislig, Surigao.
I tell you friends, Caraga should not be missed by any PinOy. Butuan is home to the oldest boat in the Philippines - the Balangai and a quick visit to the Butuan Museum will give you first-hand experience of the history of Christianity in the Philippines.
Go CARAGA!

QUOTE(tripledot @ Apr 17 2008, 05:33 AM) A little background for those who are not familiar with the Philippines.
The Philippines is an archipelago and composed of several islands. More than 7,100 islands in fact. Geographically, it is divided into 3 major islands, these are Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Manila is located in Luzon.
For places and events in the Philippines that a Pilipino (or Pinoy) should visit or experience at least once in there lifetime, here's my list (will update them when I remember the other places).
Luzon... Sagada - Mountain Province Anawangin Cove - San Antonio, Zambales Panagbenga Festival Baguio City - the flower festival on Feb. Palawan Island - at least one of these... Coron, El Nido, Puerto Princessa, Brooke's Point, etc. Batanes Island Mt. Mayon - you should at least see the volcano with the most perfect cone at least once. Pahiya Festival - Lucban, Quezon (May 11-15)
Visayas... Boracay Island Beaches in Panglao - Bohol Chocolate Hills - Bohol Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo (Jan 25-26)
Mindanao... Camiguin Island Paradise Island in Davao City Eden Nature Park in Davao City Kadayawan sa Dabaw - Davao City (Aug 20-24) Lake Sebu - South Cotabato
thanx for sharing i wana go to the Philippines one day

Hands down, PALAWAN is the destination to go!
I just visited and I extremely enjoyed the stunning seascape of the Bacuit Archipelago off of El Nido. The 6 hr road trip on some rugged terrain was truly worth it. I visited the Underground River which was just the icing on my Palawan trip. I can't wait to explore the other beaches in Palawan (i.e. port barton, san vicente).
Boracay is a thing of the past. It's beautiful, but over crowded. I wouldn't go there if I wanted to relax....
