Two German tourists took off their clothes in the airport and now they are in custody. They could face up to one year in prison.

Oh my goodness. Who does that?

I guess there are either no washrooms in that airport or maybe they were in too much of a rush to think of doing their exposure routine in the WC? unsure.gif

It's so strange. I wonder if you would be arrested for that in North America...definitely not detained and put in jail.

In Germany, public nudity is accepted in some situations. Most public parks allow nude sunbathing. However, undressing in a lobby, rather than a restroom, is a bit much. That was very careless. Travelers should know the local customs ahead of time instead of just making assumptions base on their own cultural experiences.

In North America, it would just be a warning in most cases, a fine if the warnings are ignored, & jail for repeated offenders. There are many websites where men post photos of their wives/girlfriends posing nude in public places. Some posters mention that they've been caught by authorities & just got a warning or had to go to court & pay a fine. None mentioned any jail time. Such European sites are more abundant & the posers more audacious.

I think there are unusual people wherever you go. Didn't we just have a post about some guy who got drunk and jumped overboard off a cruise ship? People often do things without thinking of the consequences...this is nothing new.

Although why they would change in public instead of a bathroom (WC for the rest of you wink.png ) is new to me...I mean how much of a rush would you possibly have to be in to do that?

I have to wonder if they stripped completely naked, or if they were still in their underwear? I can kind of understand the Germans statement that they thought it would be alright because it was a beach town in Brazil if they were still wearing underwear and were only changing pants and shirts. I've definitely seen several women walking around airports in Brazil wearing what would be classified as underwear in the USA.

Of course, I think most people would rather see the pretty Brazilian women walking around in underwear frantics.gif than 2 old German guys sick.png ...

Currently traveling the world for work...with a few extra fiddleybits thrown in to keep it new...it's the cheapest way to go!!!

Quote from my friend Chuck, who spent 5 months riding his bicycle all the way around the USA - "Nobody says you have to order an entree in the restaurant of life, you'll only be here once! Order the sampler, try as many as you can before you're full; odds are one (of) the items on this menu does more for you than you ever thought. And if I'm wrong, tell the waiter that his menu sucks, throw the cook aside and invent your own masterpiece. Just pour 'em all in, all your favorite ingredients. With enough imagination, any combination will work -- there are no recipes for the paths still awaiting discovery."
