This place looks absolutely AMAZING.

Visitors to Istanbul will soon have a chance to view the most spectacular ocean views on the planet. A seven floor, seven-star hotel is being built underwater on what was formerly a tobacco factory. There will be exhibition halls, and restaurants, and all rooms will be sea facing.

This isnít the first such underwater hotel complex in the world. That honor goes to the $500 million Poseidon Hotel which is currently being built off Fiji. The Istanbul hotel differs in that it is being built under the city center, which should make for an interesting experience.

There's one being built in Dubai too which seems incredibly over-the-top. The Atlantis, I think it's called. I wonder how the ocean location is chosen and what affect building these hotels has on the underwater environment?

My goodness, won't this devastate the marine ecosystem for miles around?

That's what I was thinking......I don't know much about how they plan all this out. I'm really curious. They must have SOME kind of plan or wouldn't people be up in arms?

i agree!!

although the picture shown looks surreal it would definately be an experience to stay at one although i would have nightmarish thoughts of the room imploding resulting in a watery death.
i dont know if i could stay in one but i would be up for a quick tour of one lol

Apparently, some critics of this project are saying it will be interesting to check-in - and check-out - the underwater hotel rooms and facilities, suggesting that the underwater visibility of the Istanbul Bosphorus Strait (which links the Black Sea to the north, with the Sea of Marmara to the south) is about ten feet!
