definitely YES.

You can get through Guatemala quite well without any problems. But if you are unlucky you can become victim of a robbery or theft. We were unlucky.

They stole our bagpack right in the Tica-Bus Station in Guatemala City (2 Meters next to the security guard). But thats not enough - our Bus was stopped close to the border to El Salvador. Armed robbery. Bad luck. But even having such experiences we still find Guatemala is a very beautiful country. Extremely nice landscapes, nature and rich Maya culture.
