Most would be aware of Schapelle Corby’s situation and with her “condition” deteriorating at the moment, I was curious as to what your thoughts were on the subject. I will try to post a poll with this post but as I have failed to do so previously there are no promises laugh.gif
Ive also included an article in regards to the topic underneath which I agree with.

Schapelle's served her time

It’s time for Schapelle Corby to come home. And for someone who reckons she was guilty of smuggling 4.1 kilos of marijuana into Bali, that’s a giant step down.
My conclusion is based on several factors, but not her recent descent towards insanity.
That’s despite the report by Dr Jonathan Phillips, former president of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, who visited Corby in her Bali jail.
He assessed her as “hanging on by a thread”.
Given the conditions of Indonesian prisons, her mental state among inmates there wouldn’t be unique.
By Australian standards a five-year sentence for trafficking that amount of marijuana is at the high end of the scale.
Had it been the more lethal heroin and in the massive quantities found on the “Bali Nine,” her sentence would have been understandably even more severe.
Hard nosed Schapelle detractors - and I have been one - will reckon her latest escapades are predicated to extract maximum public and political sympathy.
Even if that’s the case, it’s difficult to argue against her repatriation to an Australian jail in the wake of Scotland’s recent release of the Lockerbie bomber who killed more than 250 innocent airline passengers.
Those who reckon she should rot in custody for the next 15 years should also reflect on how our own courts continue to free some of our worst thugs and paedophiles.

You seem very happy downloading the article! The yellow faces moving prove it!

not going to get into it because i could go on and on. so short answer, she knew what she was doing, she knew the system, she took it over for mercedes and got busted. she can do the time.

i sit on the fence as to wether i think she is guilty or not and i remember watching it live when the sentence was handed down to her - i felt for her but in the same regard felt well if your guilty you had it coming having said that .i think 20 yrs is excessive especially when you factor in that she is sharing a cell with a woman who committed murder yet only got sentenced for 5yrs - where's the justice in that!
drug smuggling (20yrs) - murder (5yrs) .......

and apparently the lockerbie bomber took a fall so being released was a thank you for that ... whether that is true or not i think there's a lot more going on in both instances

Who knows with that... there is evidently some sort of politics at play there!

Anyway, I'm not familiar with this case, so its probably not fair to comment, but I think that if she's struggling now then she should have thought about that before she did the crime... is it worth it...

At least if she was brought home to see out the rest of her sentence, she will have better care, which will help her mental state. But other aussie criminals sitting in cells all over the world with similar crimes and sentencing aren't getting to come home to see out their sentence and suffering abuse, mental instability and filthy living arrangements, why should this be any different.

I am still a fence sitter....there are so many factors to this case that will remain forever unsolved....and actually don't point to her being guilty....on the other hand some other evidence does.....

There has been so much media hype over the case from the beginning, it is hard to not think this is another media stunt, if it is, then her acting this mentally unstable is a stellar performance.

I don't believe someone should suffer like she is, she is still a human being regardless of the crime she has been sentenced for...she still deserves basic necessities including medical!

i agree Rani
i too am a fence sitter - the case involving corby is so complex with much media attention its hard to decipher fact from fiction.
if this is just another stunt - like you said its a stellar performance...

but i am in total agreement with the article i posted above

I agree with whoever voted for the last option. I think 5 years in jail is more than enough if she is guilty of the crime.
I don't know enough about the details (and I don't think anyone ever will) to actually know if she really is guilty or not, so it's a tough call regardless of geography.

Congratulations to Gerre for figuring out the poll option!
