We are 2 couples from USA getting off a cruise ship in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on Febr 6. We need to travel to Taipei and it appears the High speed rail is the best answer. Any idea how far from the peir the train station is and is our best travel option from pier to train station a taxi cab? We will each have a full size suitcase plus a carry on so are there any issues with luggage on train. Our Ship gets in at 700am but need some time to disembark from cruise ship so not sure what time to make reservations. Are reservations necessary or can one most times buy ticket and get on reasonably soon. Any other helpful travel info would be appreciate. Thank you. Loren Fellows
