I haven't been to that side for the same reason most other travelers haven't been - it's expensive :-( The South Rim is considered a national park, so the entrance is something like $15 per car the last time I went. I wanted to go to the North Rim, but I believe it's on a private reservation and you have to purchase a tour and the cheapest was like $30 per person. Some day, I do want to make it to the North Rim though. :-)
This lady talks about a less-visited other side of the Grand Canyon... it looks incredible...
Has anybody been?
I was there last year and it is worth planning a day for. Nice scenic road stops and well laid out. Best of all no buses!! Here is the link to my blog for the North Rim:
