Hi All,

I'm not sure if you can do this or not but it would be really cool to associate a blog or a post to a facebook album or group of FB photos. Instead of having to upload the photos twice in both apps.

Is it already possible?

If not does anyone else think this is a good idea?

It doesn't currently associate photos - but I agree, this would be a cool feature!

Again, theoretically this should be doable through FB Connect. (Not to sound like a broken record or anything... but hey...)

Would also be nice if there was a way to do the same thing with Flickr. I'm less familiar with Flickr's API, but I believe it might also be possible.

No, in fact I posted the same request ages ago.

Not only is it a good idea it's an important update. It's only a matter of time before people start thinking 'Why use Travelpod when I can keep everyone updated on Facebook?'.

I really can't believe more people haven't requested this. Having to upload photos twice is a tremendous pain in the ......

Hi,

Yes I have the FB app and I've associated the blog with my FB Notes as well, but the photos I add to TP are not displayed in FB. My blog updates only show as Notes in FB with no photos displayed sad.gif

I see. There was a "Share on Facebook" button on the Facebook page for a little while, and we should be putting that back in soon.

I know it's not exactly what you want, but it'll be a start for now!

Hey Segacs, did you notice the Facebook Connect login system we have now?

You can now login to TP with your Facebook account!

Yeah, I saw that. The single sign-on is great. I haven't experimented with the notifications on Connect though, yet. How does it work now? Facebook recently changed its notification API anyway, so I'm curious as to how the functionality integrates now. I think I'll go run a few tests.

I will forward your questions off to Eric. He knows better than me about all that stuff.

Update: Test results as follows:

1. Logged in through Facebook Connect.
2. Created a new post on a travel blog and called it "test" and entered test content.
3. Published as normal. No effect on Facebook.
4. Clicked "send" and chose the option to send a notification to Facebook friends.

Previously, this option used to send an actual "notification" (red pop-up on bottom right corner of Facebook) to every Facebook friend on your list. Very annoying.

NOW, this does exactly what I wanted it to do. It publishes to my profile, my news feed, and my friends' live feeds. Here's a screen capture:

IPB Image

So, in short, this was exactly what I'd been hoping Travelpod would do with Facebook. And it works like a charm.

Note: Facebook feed has two options: "News feed" (which is sort of a "best of") and "Live feed" (which shows pretty much everything). A new probably won't appear in the "news feed" of most friends, unless it's got a lot of comments on it, because third-party applications are generally buried by Facebook's algorithm. It *will* however show up in their Live Feeds. Which is exactly where it should be.

So, in short, thanks Eric and Tpod dev team - this rocks!

So FB Connect is finally here, but what is currently in place is only the very tip of what we have planned.

We're looking forward to improving on the notifications and most importantly the sharing of pictures so you can upload them once and display them both on TP and FB!

We're in the process of navigating the rough waters of the FB API, but we'll work hard to tame the beast and bring you some great FB-TP features in 2010!

You are too fast - replying while I was typing mine. That's great!

And yeah, photo sharing would be great. An option to pull in photos from a Facebook album into Tpod blog posts would be great, too. (Hey, I know I'm dreaming big, but...)
