What a nice little New England town !

It looks like a very old village (small cobblestoned streets, old colonial houses), when was Bar Harbor founded ?
Well, first of all, I wish we did have cobblestone streets, it would be even more senic then it is. The first people settled here in town in 1763 and it was incorporated in 1796. The town's name was originally called Eden. There was
THE GREAT FIRE in 1947 that raged for 10 days ad burned more than 17,000 acrea in Bar Harbor, including 8,000 acres in Acadia National Park. Many of the grand homes that famous people and movie stars had here burned in that fire, and many of those people never returned to rebuild. So the town renamed itself and reinvented itself into what it is today.
