Travelling to NY, how much do I need?

Newbie Group: Members Posts: 2 Joined: 13-August 10 Member No.: 1229121 Nominate me as a Local Expert	Hi All I'm travelling to the United States, NY for the first time (I'm from South Africa). I'm staying over for 6 nights. I've already settled my accomodation and I was wondering how much I would probably need to survive comfortably considering shopping and meals!

Hostels are about $40 a night while hotels are about over $200 a night. Thanks for the response I'm staying at an apartment kind of but I've already paid for that, I just wanted to get an idea of how much I should budget on average just for food, activities and shopping.
