I know Croatia is still a relatively cheap destination when it comes to budget traveling...Greece has gotten a little pricey with the Euro and all. I would assume Turkey is pretty good for budget traveling, however I would hope some other members know more about Turkey.

Hi,
First of you tell us where you come from! Are you somewhere in Europe, the US, or coming from another destination?
I have also heard that Croatia is quite cheap as well, but did not go as yet there to check this out myself. Both last year but this year also, I had the chance to visit the coasts of Turkey.
What one could find a bit cheaper was leather, but of course it is not the European style, or something very fashionable! I am sorry to say but I was disappointed when in Turkey. I just bought some spices and a kilo of baklava delight. Everything had the same price as Greece. I wonder what other people buy that they find cheaper.
The origin of Baklava comes from Beiruit, but since they want to say that it is Turkish, let them believe so! I can admit though that the Turkish coast was beautiful, but in Greece things are more European and this is a fact.

Since you want to visit Europe, be sure to spend one or two days in Athens before going to an island or somewhere inland.

You can check on several Greek destinations in my blogs. The first and second blogs include many entries from Greece. I have more than 4.500 photos with comments and tips.
Choose the ones you like and get in touch to help you in case you need more info.
It will be my pleasure to help you.

I haven't been to Greece and Turkey but can confirm that Croatia is indeed stunning. However, have you considered that the weather in December probably isn't going to be ideal. This may be a good thing though, as things may be a lot of cheaper in low season.

paroshep is quite correct in suggesting the south east coast of Turkey such as Antalya in December, when the temperatures will be higher than the western part of the country. A trip to İstanbul should certainly be on your itinerary if you can fit it in. Turkey offers excellent value for money away from the euro-zone. This year Travel Agents and other travel-orientated companies were promoting Turkey (as well as Egypt) as two great value destinations.

Antalya and İstanbul are a fair distance apart (298 miles/480kms) but several airlines operate this route including:
Atlas Jet
Pegasus
Onur Air
Sun Express

and the national carrier Turkish Airlines

Plenty of competition now which has brought down prices dramatically - especially when you book as far in advance as possible - and offering fares which compare favourably with the excellent inter city coaches when you compare the saving in travelling time.

If you decide on Turkey for your proposed holiday, please let me know if I can provide any more information to help with your itinerary.

Enjoy your holoiday, wherever you decide to go.
