Hi, I am laura green from atlanta.I am living here for last 2 years. before that I was in germany for 58 years I have been travelling to overseas locations for entire life.I have been in india for last 2 months and now I have decided to have my second home in india. This has been very fulfilling trip. This time I planned it very well.I set my goals first.I wanted flexibility. So i didnt booked any hotels.(I did hire a local person who had been referred to me by a friend by reserving him in advance.)Finding a place late involves some effort but I saved effort while in USA and in india I had my translator(as he called himself but helped me with many other things.)to find a place where and when was required. India is a big country. It is light on pocket.I travelled from north to south and from east to west.Because I got 45 Rs. for every dollar I spent generously but in dollar terms I spent very less.My airticket cost me a lot. I went beyond seeing buildings ,sea and enjoyed talking to people.I tried to see their beliefs, cultures ,rituals. Tips : one should plan in advance so airfare remains low.I could also go as couple or with family and save money.(Because when you buy 2 cans of pepsi you pay double compared to 1 can but when you hire a translator his charges doesnt become double.)I could not get him with me beyond 4 weeks that I had hired him for because he was pre-booked with someone else.and last moment hotel find expert was himself not available at last moment!Carry card instead of cash because in india ATMs are almost everywhere. Now I am happy that I have spent last several weeks enjoying in less than my budget in good place.India has many people and weaknesses but I was not looking for perfection. That's not life. greenlaura1@yahoo.com
