Hey folks,

Was just wondering if anyone knew what was going on with the voting in Bolivia at the moment. There are rumors that during the two days surrounding the voting (24th and 25th January) that there will be little to no travel opportunities available (i.e. all buses will stop and the country will basically be locked down.
Was hoping to hop across to Peru on the 25th. Any information?

*hugs*

Richy

From what I can make out, these elections are going to be pretty decisive, and tempers are running high between the "Si" and "No" supporters. There has already been considerable violence, and it can only increase by election day. It is certainly not the time to be travelling around Bolivia, so if you can nip over to Peru for a few days it would be a good suggestion. On the other hand, if you are daredevil enough to ride out the storm, you may witness some interesting developments. My best advice if you stay is to watch from afar. Don't get involved as you may be mistaken for a CIA spy, even though you are a Brit. Don't even try to explain that to an angry mob!
