I would recommend you to drive if you have a lot of baggage and if you want to travel and get form one place fast to another.
If you can find a cheap flight, and you donīt want to explore at lot by car, take a flight. It might be easier and cheaper, because you have to keep in mind, that you have to pay road charges in Spain. If you stay on roads and donīt follow small streets, driving should be okay.
Have fun!
IF you use the Autopista in Spain or the Autoroutes in France then obviously you pay for them BUT by doing so there is a lot less traffic (especially compared to the UK's Motorways) there are far more and far BETTER services in Spain and France and of course speeds are higher and driving is so much more relaxing.
I would much prefer to drive 1500 miles through France and Spain from Calais to Valencia than the 250 miles from Home to Dover.
