My cousin and I have recently begun a 5-month cycling tour of NZ. We're twelve days into it and are loving it, despite a few technical problems with our gear! Hi there,

We've just arrived in Gisborne yesterday morning and had a fantastic time going around the east cape area. One thing to note for other travellers... there are NO ATMs between Opotiki and Gisborne, so make sure you've got a reasonable amount of cash and some in an EFTPOS account that you can access. Also, many places DO NOT ACCEPT credit cards. We ran out of cash halfway through and it was a bit of a problem as you can imagine (especially so since neither of us had any in an account accessible via eftpos).
