What is the best drink / beer you had anywhere in the Caribbeans?

Drinks:

My first one would be the Painkiller, I think most islands claim inventing the recipee!

The best one I had was on the Willy T, a floating bar in the British Virgin Islands. It's made with orange juice, pineapple juice, coconut cream and loads of rum.

Beer

I would have to go with Pitons from St Lucia. However it comes in really small bottles, but it is cheap enough!

What is your favorite caribbean drink?

Haha, nice one!

Beer: I thought Caribe was pretty good.

Drink: I had some pretty awesome alcoholic slushies at the Sandals in the Bahamas, I especially remember one called a "smurf" (yes I know, I was at the Sandals *blech* It wasn't my fault, and it was only for one day! Don't judge!)

Nice one! Carib is pretty good! It is a pretty common drink in the BVI.

I shouldnt really be taking interest in this thread coz I'm writing this with a bad hangover from drinking beer all day and night.. So the best beer in the Caribbean is also a great secret, Prestige.. Sold only in Haiti.. Second would be bucanero from Cuba..

I second your choice of Piton for the best beer. Maybe it's the water on St. Lucia. I also agree that the size is the pits, at 275 ml. (8 oz). In North America the bottles are normally 335 ml (12 oz). At least the bottles are returnable, if that's any comfort.

The worst must be Wadadli in Antigua. Even the name is unpronounceable after a few!
Cheers

Just spent the week-end in St Thomas:

Virgin Islands Pale Ale: Kind of nice, taste like peach.

Blackbeard Ale: I didn't like it that much, but still, it worth trying it. Not a really strong beer.

Well that's it for now. My new goal in life will be to get drunk just for this forum!

You're welcome wink.gif

Incredibly what is considered as the best rum of all, Ron Zacapa Centenario is made in Guatemala, which has a minimal Caribbean coastline. This rum has earned its place in the history books as a benchmark for super premiums. First place winner in the Premium Rums category at the 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002 Caribbean Week's Rum Tasting Competition, before the competition retired it for lack of serious competitors.

Cheers

Oooh, that reminds me of Pyrat rum from the Patron Spirits Company in Anguilla...Mmmm so soft and smooth, very nice...

Do you have a link to the results of that competition? I wonder if this one ever won a prize...

Actually there is a Caribe beer. It is made in Trinidad. It comes in a clear bottle with red print saying Caribe. It also has a picture of a pink flamingo, with a palm tree and a big yellow sun and an ocean background. A cool looking bottle and a great tasting beer. I wish I could find some.

Hmmm, I don't know? I thought the best beer wasn't supposed to give you a hangover.

I guess it really doesn't matter. Beer just tastes like sunshine. I should not be reading threads about drinks...makes me want.

Nothing wrong with a good Mojito btw.

Starlagurl asked for the page about the Caribbean Rum Tasting Competition. Regrettably I just couldn't find it any more. Perhaps the publishers of Caribbean Week drunk too much rum during the competition, and have gone out of business. Nevertheless, if you are into rum, access this remarkable Czech's odyssey through the world of rum, and next time you purchase a bottle of rare spirits, steam off the label and sent it to him.
