I'd like to add some of my own... maybe they are not all ranking with "the best", but I think they are definitely worth a list.

- The Old Town Square in Prague (there's always something going on there, like this one time when there was a rock show and a bike competition of some sort, at the same time...).

- Boat ride in the Genoa port, Italy (well it's not entirely free, as you have to buy the 1€ something common public transportation ticket, but it's really cool).

- The Louvre in Paris, each 1st Sunday of the month.

- The Reims cathedral (where 25 French kings were crowned over 13 centuries), in France.

- Parking 58 in Brussels, Belgium (virtually unknown and totally underrated : take the elevator up to the last floor for a breathtaking view of the roofs of the Belgian capital).
