The article clip below got me thinking would I or wouldn't I? There are two good points made for either side of the argument.

What's your take?? Would you secretly feel good if the matador took a few good hits?

When I was in Granada, Spain, I demurred long and hard as to whether or not I should buy a ticket to see the corrida, or bullfight. On the one hand I love animals and hate cruelty, but on the other hand I was visiting another country and wanted to try and see the beauty and pageantry in what the Spaniards consider to be a prized art form. It is true that the spectacle of man versus beast is riveting and that the matadors move most elegantly, brandishing their red capes with a flourish, but I had not realized beforehand to what extent the bull was driven out of its mind by the picadores chasing and circling it and drawing the first blood of the fight, followed by the banderilleros who antagonize and maim the hapless beast still further.

I'm with you on this. The above post sums it up quite well too. Boo to bullfights.

No, I definitely wouldn't pay to see a bullfight.

When I was studying in Spain, most of the Spanish youth I met advised me not to go, as they can be touristy (especially in tourist-filled Spanish cities in the summer). Since Spaniards seemed to prefer soccer to bullfighting, I went to a soccer match instead.

I question whether I could handle seeing a bullfight even if I'd wanted to.

I know it's a long-standing tradition in their culture and I can accept that, but as the world moves forward, old-school thinking advances, for the most part anyway. Even if it is a slow process. I wouldn't support anything that involves cruelty to animals and that's why I would never go.

If you are the type of person who wishes to watch animals tortured for "sport" then you really need to ask yourself some serious questions, because your life is one big fail.

I don't care if it's what the locals do. Bare in mind that the majority of people in Spain don't like Bullfighting. It's as backwards as Fox Hunting is here.

It's 2009 (almost). How are these things still accepted in this world?

Um, probably b/c there are still people out there who think things like cooking and cleaning are 'women's work'. Old school man. It's tough to change people's minds really. Plus, way back then cruelty to animals was not really that much of an issue. Now it is. Plus, some people don't give two hoots about animals. Like people who throw their dogs out car windows while driving. You know, jerks.

I would be tempted only in hopes of seeing the trainer get gored by one of those horns. The more places I go to that have animals the more I see mistreatment and how sad they really are so I would not want to support something like that.

I probably wouldn't go. I just don't like stadium-type entertainment. It's the same reason I wouldn't go to a football match in England or a sumo match in Japan.
