Hi Everyone!

I am new to Travelpod. I am an armchair traveler right now. If you don't count traveling around my new home town. But I don't plan to be for long. My travelogue on here is kind of different. I have talked about some of the places I have gone, and some musings about traveling and what it means to be.

I also have my own blog at www.travelcloseup.com
where I have been writing articles about where I go. I want to make traveling and writting about traveling my life.

Does anyone do this for a living, and could give me pointers? I love writing and it is something that comes naturally to me. I want to explore the world, but I just don't have the funds right now to travel. So any help on how to deal with this "little snag" would be greatly appreciated as well.

My top 10 places to go:

1) Greece
2) Turkey
3) Alia, Sicily
4) Morrocco
5) Egypt
6) Lebanon
7) Czech Republic
8) Rest of Italy
9) Alaska on a cruise
10)The Carribean

Places I have been:

1) Canada
2) Mexico
3) Norway
4) Many spots in the US
5) Ireland
6) Scotland

Have fun armchair travelers! Keep those dreams alive!

Okay, a couple of pointers. I'm a writer (and a yoga teacher). smile.gif

First, start writing. Build a portfolio, even if it's stuff that you don't publish. That way if someone asks what you've written, you've got something good to show them.

Second, solicit feedback. People can be cruel and brutal, but that's what you need. You need to know your strengths and weaknesses.

Third, publish. Even if it's in a free magazine, publish anywhere where people will let you!

Fourth, find a job that lets you live. Personally, I like to teach yoga, so when things are slow in the writing, that at least is regular so I don't starve to death. It also allows me to fund my travel.

Finally, go ANYWHERE and write about it. Travelling around your home town DOES count, so go places, visit the local sights, do weird things and write about it.

Hey Jessica,

thanks for the tips. I have been writing pretty much about anywhere I go. I love writting and ahve written on a variety of topics for a long time (since I was a kid), and I think I have natural talent, plus I love it. Now..If I could only find a job that allows me to live! That will be my next order of business.

Thanks for all your advice! I will take it in.
