If you had to choose, which would it be and why;

One month long trip

Four week-long trips over the year?

Definitely 4 week long trips...I'd rather spread the love throughout the year, so I always have a trip to look forward to. dance.gif

I'd do the month long so I can really spend time and get to know a place(s).

I think depending on where you go, two days lost due to flying does not leave much time for you to do/see much in the remaining 5 days.

But if I really had to choose it would be one month working and the rest of the time travelling!

I am a one month long trip kind of guy. I like to spend as much time as possible and I like to have plenty of downtime just sitting in coffee shops, or sitting on some steps people watching. I'm pretty easy to please really.

I would prefer a month I think. Sometimes when you have a week a little bit of you is just dreading coming back all the time. Plus I'd be able to go further away.

Oooh, this is a tough one... Maybe I'd split the month up into two two week trips. A week is too short to really experience and get to know any one place. Two weeks will give you enough time to get into holiday mode and have a good time.

Nothing wrong with taking a whole month off though. At least the further places are a bit more accessible this way as half your holiday isn't in the getting there... Not many people have the luxury of a whole month off though...

One month long trip, because a week long trip is not worth the time/money to spend 2 full days traveling there and back. I'd get to see more and the $/day would be cheaper overall.

In the USA you get so used to short holidays that I would tend to agree with vermaakjeanne, and take two two-week trips.

If I lived in Europe I'd probably go for the full month.

Any and all that I can get my hands on!!

Weekends, weeks, fortnight and longer are all good for me.

Because I work to pay for my trips, then I usually break it down into smaller breaks, one week, two weeks, sometimes 3 weeks at a time - otherwise if I took four weeks together then I'd only have one week of holiday left to play with throughout the year.

If I didn't work I'd choose a month or longer every time.

Saying that I have longer next year for my RTW.

It depends on the destination I quess!

However if I had to choose between having a one month trip a year, or 4 weekly trips over the year I would pick the second.

If however it was a trip to a very distant destination I would prefer the first.

We usually have 4 or 5 day brakes 5 or 6 times a year, and during summer we have one or two 8 days trip, and finish our summer holidays with a trip which lasts from 18 to 21 days.

I consider my self lucky, because I have this opportunity.....at least up to now!!!
From now on that the parents of my students have no work, or work partime and I don't get paid as usual....things might change!
BUT I ALWAYS THINK POSITIVE!

Hey Karen, welcome to the forum!

I'd have to agree with the one-month people so I can justify traveling across the world. Unfortunately (or fortunately?), I end up splitting my vacations up and staying closer to home.

I would probably go with one month long trip, just so I could visit a place that's really far away and explore it! Although four week-long trips would be nice, that's mostly the kind of vacation that I've already been on - I've never been away for more than a couple of weeks, so it would be a nice change of pace!

I think it's on of those which depends on location (distance to get there). I think though i'd rather spread time off work over the year.

If you are limited to a maximum time off each year with no flexibility in it 1 month off isn't ideal if it leaves you with no days off at all for rest of the year.

A fortnight would be sufficient to rejuvenate and be back to work--a month may add to job loss in recession.
A month would be BLISS
