Well, for swimming it would be a bit cold, So, why not tackle the oasis. Just coming from there and I LOVED the white desert. However I went to see it from Baharya. but you can go there from Dachla. You have to take a 4x4-trip to really see it. Overnight, to see it under the moon. Competition is fierce, so prices are acceptable: 600LE for up to 4 people -150 each- for an overnight-trip, all inclusive. you won't regret it. I don't know about Dakhla Oasis, but I've been to Marsa Alam. When are you going? The snorkling and scuba diving in the Red Sea is the best in the world and Marsa Alam receives visits from a well-known sea cow (like a manatee). He visits a particular bay about once every 10 days in the summer. Everyday there are sea turtles that you can swim with.

It is also one of the few places in the Red Sea where there is a sand beach.
