Last April I spent a wonderful month camping and hitchhiking around Morocco. This summer I am planning to repeat the experience, and also see Mauritania.
My question is whether this is feasible in Senegal, and if it is worth going the extra distance.
I'm not really concerned with safety from thieves or Casamance rebels. I'm just wondering if it is feasible to go off on foot into Senegal; if I will be able to buy food at villages, if I will be able to find water (I'll either be going in June or July) and if I will be able to get help from the locals if I need it.
If there are specific areas that are good for hiking, I'd like to hear about them. I haven't been able to find any blogs about this sort of thing.
