"If confirmed, it would be the first outbreak in that part of Libya for about 25 years, Ms Bhatiasevi said. "

JUST 25 years??? Bubonic plague was found in Libya 25 years ago and no one said anything?

Bubonic plague is found all over the world, but it's endemic, so not so high on the news radar. It's only when it becomes a pandemic that the news picks up on it. sick.png

I believe it's actually treatable too, assuming you seek medical attention quickly. Which isn't an option for most of the world, sadly.

Yea the plague pops up every once in a while, but never any huge threat. Most diseases back from those days still exist but are in very very tiny quantities on the order of 10s a year out of billions of people.

Well I don't think we should accept that those people die from that.

Is it caused by poor hygiene facilities then?

It is caused by poor hygiene and I believe carried on rats and vermon.

apparently there has been recent cases in the US too. If diagnosed early it is treated with medication and full recovery....
