Has anybody ever been traveling with your girlfriend/boyfriend and they simply hated a place or circumstance and you loved it?

What did you do to resolve the issue?

Haha!! Yes, I went to Kenya with my first husband - he soooo hated it and I soooo loved it.

We resolved it by getting divorced!!!! (final straw type thing) laugh.gif

Good for you! Miryam and I are married for over 35 years because we both love all the places we have been to.

My first marriage ended because she was a home lover and although a perfect housewife and mother, never wanted to go anywhere.

Yes, for me it was extremely stifling. Forever trying to negotiate a 'happy' medium where neither person ends up being fulfilled.

Goodness, you are a master of geography, stuck with a Disney/cruise fan. I have to admire you for sticking it out and trying to find compromises. I can see that little by little Kelly will get more and more adventurous. Keep on plugging.

How's this for a compromise...a cruise on the Yangsze and a visit to Hong Kong Disney!

My husband keeps telling me how tired he has become of having me booking trips one after the other.
Every time he is informed that I have booked a trip he repeats the same things. However when the time comes and he announces it to friends I sense that he likes the idea of the trip he is having each time!
The only thing is that his knee hurts and he cannot walk for hours like me.
Of course, we usually see spots together, then he returns to the hotel to read, or relax and I go around the places that we have either visited together or go to new spots. If I will be away for a long time (let's say 5 hours) I tell him that I will be back at a certain time sharp, otherwise let the police know about and start searching for me.

Well Popi, that's a great compromise. You both get to see places you want in spite of your husband's health challenges.

Louise, you too, but three days in EuroDisney...I don't know. Can't you leave Kelly there and spend your day at Starbucks in Val d'Europe? http://www.valdeurope.com/

There is also a Sea World-like attraction nearby - http://www.sealifeeurope.com/local/index.php?loc=paris

There's even an outlet mall - http://www.lavalleevillage.com/en_GB/cat/women

I have realized for some time that in many cases we never know the names of the people we are communicating with, just a password. I don't know why, but I just called 2olives Louise. But what is your real name?

Real Louise in Ottawa...why don't you add a line in the profile "All About Me" so we can enter our real names if we wish?

lol - you aren't so far off, Martin. She has tentatively agreed to a London/Paris vacation next year IF we can spend 3 days at Disneyland Paris. It's a mess.

London - cool! When are you planning on coming?

Are you talking about this page: http://www.travelpod.com/members/starlagurl?

This is in the process of being redesigned at the moment, I think that's a good idea, I will tell the redesigner about it.

Oh, and I spent a lot of time crunching the numbers on the propsed trip to London and Disneyland Paris and found out we just can't do it. The airfare alone is a dealbreaker.
What happened to all these incredibly low airfares to Europe? We are going from Miami to Prague and returning from Budapest in October for US$ 735.00 on Swiss. My nephew, who is joining us from Chicago, is paying under US$ 600.00.

Well Popi, that's a great compromise. You both get to see places you want in spite of your husband's health challenges.

Hola mui amigo Martin!
I was in the streets of Toledo yesterday walking for more than 4 hours. Upon arrival, we took the hop on hop off tourist coach. We had a tour around the city, then we went to a restaurant to get some beer, and afterwards I left my husband, and I was walking for about 4 hours all over the old city of Toledo visiing places and taking photos.

While walking I remembered your words " a great compromise" and I smiled to myself!
Indeed it is a compromise, because it cannot be otherwise. I am lucky that Yianni loves travelling at least. Of course he would loved to follow, but it is impssible with a knee which hurts to walk so much. So, indeed it is a compromise. A good none as well!

adios

I would imagine he got through quite a few beers in four hours.
