Having the National Guards in Venezuela walk up to you with their big guns ( just randomly pointed) while they check your passport. Not too sure if it was stressful or just scary... crying_anim02.gif

For me the further away from home I get the worse it gets. The wort would be a trip to NJ, a freezing Giants game, etc...

The most stressful time was when we were looking for a day trip in the Canaries and we were told that there was one on, the following week.
I got so stressed and wanted to cry. I had to find another trip, but were told that there was just one day trip tour and we had to leave without seeing the whole island.

I never get stressed even if I am far away from home in a foreign country.

I havent really travelled much before been on a few holidays but most stressful was prob one in England when i went to Torquay with friends and fell out with them all. Also to add to this i ended up being really ill with a chest infection so spent most the night coughing and being sick so i ended up going home a day early as we werent on speaking terms and i felt so ill.

My biggest stress while traveling is when my partner gets stressed out. I feel like I'm in a hurricane until she calms down.

The only part of traveling that makes me anxious is trying to figure out unfamiliar transit systems and schedules, especially if in a hurry.

I find that when me and my partner go on holiday it and i know he isnt enjoying something that i really want to do it stresses me out.

This is an easy one, the night before a trip.....for whatever reason, I just can not sleep the night before a trip. Stress, nerves, whatever, I just can't get any sleep the night before.

Missing my connecting flight in New York to South Carolina. Was my first time to the states, my first time travelling solo, and my first time of having to get a connecting flight. Due to a delay in the UK and then a 2 hour long immigration process, I hadn't even got in the country by the time the flight I should have been on was already in the air.

I spent 6 hours in Newark Airport trying to sort another flight out. I had very little money, no idea how these things are done, and I was alone. Not too cool. In the end another Airline flew me to SC, via Kentucky, for free. Assume they took it up with the original airline who couldn't have been less helpful.

Having a bag stolen from under my seat whilst on a night bus in La Paz. We had put off our travel from the previous evening because a woman had snatched a small handbag ... the police retrieved this (containing two passports!), but it took until around midnight to complete the exercise. The next night on a different bus, different driver etc we stopped at High Alto. People were buzzing about and this well dressed man leaned over our seat but as only people travelling were allowed on the bus we took little notice of this little realising that he was the distraction while an accomplice slid my bag out from beneath the seat. This is not normally possible given the lack of space but as there was no toilet on this bus the seats were more roomy. The most frustrating thing was that I suddenly realised the driver was in on it ... his manic grin gave him away and I wondered how anyone could be so delighted at another's misfortune. C'est la vie.
How on earth did armchair adventurer get in there? If I am then it's a rather mobile armchair.

The most stressful travel experience? Contracting Giardia, an intestinal parasite, two days into my two week long trip to Peru. It hit me while I was in Lima, the day of our flight to Cuzco. And it would not let up. Got to Cuzco, and spent the following three days curled up in a ball on my bunk or on the floor of the bathroom.

Then I went on a four day hike to Machu Picchu...while still incredibly ill. I had to pop so many anti-diarrhea drugs to keep myself moving through the hike that I think I permanently damaged my intestines. It isn't fun having to run into the jungle every half hour to relieve yourself...plus the fact that nothing I ate stayed in my stomach for very long, I had no energy.

It was the hardest, most exhausted, most stressful experience of my life. I lost 10 pounds in less than 2 weeks.

How horrible - it sounds like you should have been in hospital rather on the floor of the bathroom.

Good on you though to making it to Machu Picchu while feeling so ill!
