Hi,

I want to travel from Ecuador - Brasil (Northeast or just East coast). I think that going by boat is the most interesting (or only??) way. I don't know if it is possible to travel this journey by boat, so can somebody tell me if it is? If not, is it possible by bus? This looks like a terrible journey, though. Flying is our last option. What is best/cheapest way (airline)? f somebody did the same journey, i really want to know all details ;-)

The answer is unless you have your own boat not really. If you go to the north you would go up the coast of Ecuador pass by Columbia through the Panama Canal across the Caribbean and down to Brazil. Sounds like an incredible trip but it's not done commercially. To the South you would go down around the horn and back up to Brazil. I believe there are some cruise lines that offer this as part of larger itinerary, but I've never heard of them selling just that portion.

As for the Amazon basin the only boats that travel in the Ecuadorian Amazon either only stay in Ecuador or are carrying items to sell to the local villagers. There is not a company offering a cruise like in Peru which would start in Iquitos and go to Manaus. Partially because there has been a great deal of trouble in the Amazon in the portion near Columbia which you would have to go through to reach Brazil.

If you are still thinking of it - then you might want to research the Iquitos companies as the best option.
