We have enjoyed Moroc & Tunisia and am now considering buying property in Tunisia. Not just as a holiday home but possable a place to retire to. Any one out there that has done the same, that can give a bit of advice on the do's & donts? I was brought up in a muslim contry so am well aware of the culture differences.

Hi Melons, I just asked my Tunisian friend for help... His background is Tunisian he lives in Canada, so he might be a little biased...

"If this
person wants to live in Tunisia, it's his problem. I
guess he sees something in that country that I didn't
the 8 times I went there! He should go to
where they have some good info. He can buy a property
as long as it's not agricultural land, however he an
rent agricultural property for up to 40 years. If he's
financially all set, then he'll live like a king in
Tunisia because the Tunisian currency is not worth much
and everything is pretty cheap (especially people's
income). That's all the info I can offer as I know
almost nothing about buying property in my own
country, much less Tunisia. Oh and I hope that he
understands that being a tourist in Tunisia and
actually living in Tunisia and dealing with the
Tunisian bureaucracy and the superficiality of the
city people are completely different. I mean people
there barely make enough money to pay their rent,
can't afford heating when it's freezing in december
and yet they need to have Levi's 501 jeans and every
member of the family has a cell phones.

BUT that's just my opinion.
