Good luck to Bhutan with its upcoming elections and transformation into democracy.
I hope your version of democracy can some how work out better than the other versions we have.

I was sad to read in your website that you have gone down the road to the typical party type system that has been tried in most other countries.
Sad because this seems to just leads to parties squabbling for power. The parties need money to campaign against each other at elections, and so it is the rich and powerful people and the big businesses that supply that and then it is them that pull the strings. Sadly in this way democracy doesn't end up assisting the people or the country in the caring way your previous Kings have done. It is all about fighting for power and doing whatever is necessary to get it.

I tend to think that if small communities could choose a well respected representative from the community, and each of those representatives picked the best of them to be the governing council, you'd end up with something more useful than the failed representative democracies that you see in many countries. You'd see longer term thinking, and you'd have people that are answerable to their small communities that have chosen them. Not people that are simply "used car salesmen".
