Hey everyone! My name is Laura and I go to Drexel University. I am doing a research project on the luggage that frequent fliers (and specifically business travelers) carry and use. If ANYONE ( frequent flier or not) on here would like to answer a few questions for me it would be of great service and would of course be immensely appreciated. Please just answer as few or as many questions below that you wish/are able to answer. You can give short or very elaborate answers, it is all up to you. ( Just copy paste questions when replying)  What type of traveler are you? ( causal, business, family, individual, student, frequent, infrequent, international, national, regional, etc) you may pick as many that apply. When traveling, what type of luggage do you prefer to carry? (ex: dufflebag, briefcase, backpack, large/small suitcase, rolling suitcase, etc) How do you buy your luggage? (ex: internet, retail stores, etc) Where do you hear about the product? ( word of mouth, commercials, search engine?) How often would you say you buy pieces of luggage? Does the luggage (of your choice) satisfy your needs? What could be improved with the luggage of your choice? Why is this the luggage of your choice? What can be improved in any types of luggage? (answer however you feel would be most beneficial - you dont need to answer all questions) How old are you? Income level? What type of traveler are you? causal, individual, frequent, international, I am also a student but my purposes of travel are not for anything student related
When traveling, what type of luggage do you prefer to carry? I carry a duffel bag that has backpack straps and wheels and a smaller day backpack. Best of all worlds
How do you buy your luggage? internet
Where do you hear about the product? reviews on trusted websites like eBags
How often would you say you buy pieces of luggage? I've only bought one piece of luggage, the rest I have received as free gifts from employment or converted a school bag into a day pack.
Does the luggage (of your choice) satisfy your needs? What could be improved with the luggage of your choice? Why is this the luggage of your choice? What can be improved in any types of luggage? Yep, I think the only thing that a duffel (mine specifically) could use more is better use of compartments but that would take away valuable packing space so it would be a hard trade off. I can't complain at all

Casual, family, individual, student, international, national When traveling, what type of luggage do you prefer to carry? (ex: dufflebag, briefcase, backpack, large/small suitcase, rolling suitcase, etc)It depends on the type/duration of the trip. For a weekend trip I can get by on a carry on dufflebag and a regular school backpack, for a backpacking trip through Europe I'd take a bigger backpack, but for a family trip to say San Francisco I'd take a larger rolling suitcase. Basically my luggage changes to fit the trip. How do you buy your luggage? (ex: internet, retail stores, etc)Retail stores and internet Where do you hear about the product? What can be improved in any types of luggage?Well as I said I usually pick the luggage based on the need, so it usually fits nicely. I am a big fan of these so called "packing cubes" that keep your stuff separated, it might be nice to see some of this come standard as part of the luggage... What type of traveler are you? Causal, individual, infrequent, international, national, & regional.
When traveling, what type of luggage do you prefer to carry? One rolling suitcase & one backpack.
How do you buy your luggage? Internet.
Where do you hear about the product? Catalogs in the mail.
How often would you say you buy pieces of luggage? Whenever one breaks (handle breaks off, strap breaks, sides split. wheel comes off, etc)
Does the luggage (of your choice) satisfy your needs? Yes.
What could be improved with the luggage of your choice? More variety of colors and/or patterns to distinguish it from others in baggage claim.
Why is this the luggage of your choice? They are easy to move around; especially in hurried situations.
How old are you? 58

What type of traveler are you? Mostly Frequent International Business w/ my wife traveling with me...but also a mix of casual national and international w/ my wife.
When traveling, what type of luggage do you prefer to carry? For business travel, I use (1) laptop backpack, (1) Large 2-wheel suitcase, and (1) medium duffle bag for tools, boots, body harness, etc. For casual travel, (1) laptop backback, and (1) medium 2-wheel suitcase
How do you buy your luggage? I always inspect luggage in a retail store before purchasing. I usually purchase the laptop backpacks in the retail store. I get the duffelbags for free or from Salvation Army (Currently using a People's Bank of Kentucky one). The suitcases, depends on the discounts that the retail store might be having
Where do you hear about the product? Read reviews online (Consumer Reports) to figure out which ones I want to look at further.
How often would you say you buy pieces of luggage? Usually 1 or 2 pieces per year, as they wear out. I live out of a suitcase ~300 days per year so I'm rough on luggage. I take that back, the baggage handlers are rough on luggage.
Does the luggage (of your choice) satisfy your needs? What could be improved with the luggage of your choice? Why is this the luggage of your choice? What can be improved in any types of luggage? I have several requirements for suitcases. They must have large, recessed, fixed wheels (I don't like the 4-wheel rolling suitcases). It must have thick plastic on the bottom and back of the suitcase to protect against punctures. The zippers must have a good place to use a luggage lock. It must have double or triple stitching at the seams for strength. And it needs to have a handle at the bottom as well as the top and side to make picking it up to put into a trunk easier. I'm thinking about trying a hardcase for the next one I buy.
For backpacks, it needs to be designed to protect a laptop, have a padded back, a small easy access compartment near the top for passport, phone, etc. It also needs to have 2 waterbottle/glasses case holders. And I prefer to have one that has zippers that luggage locks can be used with.
Duffelbags should be cheap or free (I go through them like the newspaper). Needs a shoulder strap, and carrying handle. 1 large main compartment, 2 end compartments, and 1 small front compartment.
