Hi can anyone help me on this? I worked in Arusha last year and am thinking about the possibility of returning at the end of this year. I wondered about maybe riding there from Nairobi by motorbike and perhaps touring around Tanzania? I would only have about 5 weeks sadly.

I know about the roads and traffic! I did not see many bikes when I was there. Any ideas on getting hold of a bike either in Kenya or Tanzania.

Any other advice on motorbike travel in Tanzania also gratefully recieved.

Sounds like quite an adventure! There are motorbikes available here in TZ. I recommend that you consider how rough the roads can be when you choose the bike. The biggest concern that I would have is reports of motorbike hijackings. Since you have spent some time in Arusha, you may have enough of a sense of what you need to do to stay as safe as possible.
