G.day Jamielynn,

It all depends on where you are intending to travel whether English is spoken more freely , I my self have not had much problems getting assistance from hotel staff or shops ,but i suppose i have not gone off the beaten path some one else may help u with that question.

Regard money yes American dollars will be accepted but my advice is also carry in-country cash as well as some place don't have access to atm's or credit card machines i always carry enough cash in-country for the period of time i will be away from an atm or credit card facility.

When travelling it is a good idea to load your own money onto your credit card this way u can use the credit card as a money machine and not incur any penalty if u spend it plus it gives u back up if u do go over the limit, I loaded $5,000 onto my card and had a further $5000 in credit before i left on my round the world trip and had no problems paying for every thing on card from accommodation to goods in shops, i also had a cash card that allowed me to withdraw cash and us allowed $200 a week for incidentals like lunches or small passes to enter tourist sites as well as tipping.

NEVER carry large sum's of money with you and just use common sense in countries that you feel is unsafe look up your governments travel advisory web sites see what they say about safety in the country of your tour visit
