I've been looking at taking a nice 2-3 week trip in October and Africa crossed my mind. Has anyone been to Africa in October? Where should I go?

I am looking for a warm, beach location with possible day trips into the country so that I don't get board. I am hoping for an interesting place that isn't touristy, and where locals will leave me alone on the beach to enjoy myself.

AH! The beach in Africa (Ghana) will always have locals and they give it texture and a feeling of place. There are many such areas on the beach that you be left alone, in fact you will all alone. But the side trips are what make Ghana, well Ghana. The Volta region near Ho is a two day trip but it will not be forgotten, see my images of the monkey gardens in the Region, the Aburi Rain garden sits on a mountain top unlike any other you may have experienced. But bring buckets of money are book a trip with lodging included the best way to save. Accra is super expensive; more so than New York City.

Have fun, in the sun, and the sun always shines in Ghana.

while in Kenya visit Kituluni hill in machakos you actually get to see your car moving uphill while in neutral gear.it is even said that cyclists experience ease of cycling once they reach that place and also if you pour water on the tarmac you get to see it flow upwards!

October is excellent for game viewing in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
Fantastic views of the Migration in the Masai Mara in Kenya & Northern in Tanzania, with thousands of Wildebeest and Zebras are crossing the crocodile infested Mara River.
Good season for trekking in Kenya & Tanzania and quite suitable for Gorilla Trekking in Uganda & Rwanda.
Wind on the coast of Kenya and Tanzania calms down, hence good for diving, sailing and snorkelling.
Humpback Whales can be observed in the Quirimbas & Bazaruto Archipelagos in Mozambique. Whale Sharks & Whales are best observed at Inhambane in Mozambique.

Cheers!!
