Hi there
Does any of you know if there is a chicken bus from Antigua (Guatemala) to Jutiapa (Guatemalan-El Salvador border) withouth having to go to Guatemala City??

There are a lot of shuttles but I don't find any local bus straight from Antigua

Thanks!

I tried avoiding Guatemala City too! I don't think there is a bus straight to Jutiapa.

I stayed 3 nights in Guatemala City, right downtown. I really tried to like it but the place has a bad vibe and the smoke coming off local Buses will almost knock you out. Very modern if you get out of the downtown core though. Walking the streets at night was fun, in a dangerous way.

Taking a Bus out of that city was also a crazy experience for me. I figured out what street the Bus company was and walked over there. A very rough section of town but I didn't have any trouble. The streets are filled with markets and just people hanging around waiting for different Buses. There doesn't seem to be a main terminal or at least, I never found it.

My suggestion; go during the day.

You might be able to just pass through Guat if you went on the TICA Bus. They'll also help you with immigration at the border, which can be a bit confusing and time-consuming.

Take an early bus from Antigua. It'll take less than an hour to get to Guatemala City and from there you can get a bus straight to San Salvador. You'll probably need to get a taxi in Guate as the bus terminals are spread all over the place!
