I'm going to Edinburgh next week to visit some friends and am looking for some great pubs and restaurants that are inexpensive. I"m staying in the Old Town part of the city, so preferably places near there, but I'm willing to venture out obviously. No places that get very rowdy as I'm travelling with two girls and although I'm sure they would enjoy watching a good fight/brawl, I'm thinking a place less "punched in the face"ish would be more pleasureable. So basically a good, yet inexpensive restaurant and some good pubs to grab a few (or 10) pints and enjoy the night. Thanks!

Well...I don't know of any specifically, but if you go to this site:
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurants-g18...h_Scotland.html

and pick Pubs...

"New Bell Inn" comes up as the top pick...

I personally LOVE Rose Street in Edinburgh. It is in the city centre, but it is full of character. It runs parallel to the main street (Princes Street), one street AWAY from the direction of the castle. There's loads of cosy little pubs on it, with funny names like "Filthy McNasties"; "The Cat & Bagpipes" & "Dirty Dick's". They all sell traditional food as well, so you can eat as well as drink there!!
