I am a little bothered as I have never had this problem before and I have no idea why this is happening!
I am trying to save a map pin entry (Also tryed a full entry, draft etc etc) and it just will not save and create it! I have tryed numerous times, today and yesterday - any ideas on how to solve this problem?!

Many thanks in advance!

Hi AlinMatt,

A few questions to try and get to the bottom of this problem.
1. What trip and entry are you trying to update?
2. Are you getting any errors?
3. Are you using classic maps or satellite (google) maps?
4. What browser are you using? What version? Mac or Windows?

Cheers,
Shaun

Had this problem on some computers, the emergency solution is to do a quick update (or express update, i don't remember) through www.travelpod.com/update

Once it was created this way, I was able to edit it. Hope that works

ok - I'm having this problem too and I have never had any issues with travelpod before...

I did the express update and was able to create a new entry but when I try to edit that entry I get the same error message I was getting before, which is...

"Oops, you forgot to write an entry."

Which is a lie, really...cause I did write one...

I have eleven entries written on my laptop and was able to update four of them last night on travelpod with no problems but this afternoon when I tried to finish the rest of them I keep getting this error message whenever I try to create a new entry or edit existing entries which I had put "filler text" into when I originally created them.

I'm stumped. I also tried saving it as draft, silent, quick-update, etc...all with the same result.

Jason...confused in tokyo.

Hey Jay,

Are you pasting text from Microsoft word into the entry? Also I'm assuming you are using the Wizard Mode (rich text editor)?

Cheers,
Shaun

Hi,

I originally use OpenOffice Writer (too cheap to buy the real MS Office) but I was copying that text to notepad and pasting from notepad because I was having the html issues before and found that solution a couple months ago.

yes - am using wizard mode.

There were some issues pasting from Microsoft Word which may have caused this. Let me know if you're still getting this error Jay.

yep - still getting the error. Yesterday I had no problem and I was able to update entries 68, 70, 72 & 73. Nothing changed though when I have tried to update today - I'm still using the same computer, internet connection, the same entries saved from the same file in openoffice and same process to try to update the entries.

I have tried creating new entries for cities visited after Osaka and get the same error message even when starting a new entry from scratch (not pasting from notepad).

I just tried again two minutes ago and got the same "ooops, you forgot to write an entry" message.

Thanks,

Jason.

Jay,

I'm trying to reproduce your problem with little success. When you are creating the new entry are you pasting anything or typing anything into the entry box before you click "Select"?

No, no copying in that case...I just tried again to create an entry for Kyoto with the same issue. For the entry section I usually just put in three spaces or one line as a placer and that is what I tried. Then, later I will go in to add photos and copy text after the initial entry is created.

However, when I used the express update option that was suggested earlier in the thread, it will work to create the entry but then I get the same error message when I try to edit it later.

alright - I just tried creating a entry for Kyoto and copying a paragraph directly into the express update option as above and it worked. Afterwards, I had no problem editing the map pin either for Kyoto.

But, when I went in to edit the entry to add more that the one paragraph or to fix a grammar error I got the same error message as before when I tried to save any changes beyond what was entered in the initial creation of the post from the express update screen.

Jay,

If you try updating using Advanced Mode, does it work? Also what browser are you using? PC or MAC?

Hi there...it seems to be ok now. I deleted all my entries and re-created them on another computer with no problem and since I deleted the original entries (about four of them) I have been able to edit with my computer again.

I have been using a PC with XP. I didn't try Advanced Mode. I tried with both Mozilla and Explorer with same issue.

Okay Jay, I fixed a few small bugs that may have caused issues on some browsers. Glad to hear it's working now. Thanks for your help and patience in reporting this issue. Happy trails!
