I'd love to post photos that span the margins of my entry, such as seen on on this page:

When entering your entry in Travelpod you need to be in 'advanced mode'. Then you use the image tags to include the image in the entry. The path of the image is important here. If you send me a link to a particular photo in your travelogue, I'll be able to show you..

Hi Billie,

I've got it working. Go into your entry and include this 'image tag':

<IMG SRC=http://www.travelpod.com/users/billiegreenwood/borderexplorer.1173218820.img_0344.jpg WIDTH=550>

(Note: that's only a space between '<IMG' and 'SRC')

Your entry should now show your story and the pic fitting the width of the screen. The problem is trying to explain it. It's just that this is how we used to have to insert pictures 'back in the day', though the 'preferred' method nowadays is to insert the pictures as you already have done in your entry. If you look at the line of text above you'll see it's not that complicated, just a path of your username/travelogue/entry ID/filename of the pic/a space/and then the width you choose.

Have a play around and see if you can get it working with some other pics. Long winded? Yes - which is why the new method was created to make things easier. I just happen to prefer the long-winded way..

I like the margin-to-margin way as well. A little variety is nice. Maybe you can help me sometime as well? I don't mind long-winded.

The new way is really the 'preferred' way? I'm kind of surprised. Or is it just b/c it's easier?

Another Major advantage of the <IMG SRC .....>
method is that if you then choose to "Print Entry" or "Print Entire Log"
the photos will show up within the text and can be printed or saved to HD or burned onto a DVD.
The "cool new way", the 'the preferred way', the photos don't show; only the text.

I still bellieve the techies at TP could relatively easily automaticaly place <IMG SRC ..WIDTH=550> brackets around the photo ID when uploading photos. Doing it manually is very time consuming and prone to errors. All the photos could be placed in the Entry window in 'Advanced Mode' at the start and then captions and text inserted between the photos. If photos are added after the text, cut and paste the text between the photos and add captions.

By the way, Scott would know. 550 is the width of the page. By dividing that up two or three photos can fit from margin to margin. I think??

Sorry. I did say I wouldn't raise this issue again but there seems to be others who prefer the IMG way. Why not make it easier??

I've seen that on Scott's page....more thne one photo margin to margin... looks good.

Thanks, Scott! I did it. I appreciate your help. I'll play around with this and see if I can apply this new skill to other photos in my entries.

I am curious also about how to "divide" the 550 to display 2 or 3 photos margin-to-margin. If you'd care to illustrate that process, I'd be quite interested.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! My entries will look so much cooler now that I can use the "old" way--I'm definitely a fan of photos sans captions when weaving them in to an entry. Thanks Billie for the perfect question & thanks Scott for the perfect answer. Cheers!

It might be worth playing around with the widths to arrange the photos as you would like..

I've successfully posted 3 different photos across the width of the entry page using WIDTH=178. It's a great way to add some variety to the entries. Thanks again, Scott.
