Having enjoyed a great holiday in Zanzibar a few years ago, I was intersted to read this article:

We stayed up the beach a bit from where that photo was taken in Nungwi (Amaan Bungalows) and I believe they were a lot cheaper than that hotel too and only about a 1 minute walk away!
We found one bar on the sand that we loved! They served bar meals which were cheap and given that night we were more concentrated on drinking rather than a resteraunt meal, pretty good too. (Though they weren't able to put peas in my mac and cheese, lol) They also had a HUGE cocktail list.
We had more traditional lunches while we were there at villages a little further away but dinners were very italian oriented, I hadn't actually noticed that before reading this article.
