Where can I find a place in Vancouver which serves poutine?


(A few years ago, on another message board, I asked why I can't find poutine in most parts of Canada. I got an earful [in this case an eyeful] that I'm an idiot because poutine is a regional dish not national. I argued that in the US, many Southern & Tex-Mex dishes are available in most cities & towns throughout the country. Still they insisted I'm an idiot.)

Ironically, the most reliable way to find poutine in practially any city in Canada is to head to the closest shopping mall food court and go to the "New York Fries" counter. Of course, this is only a fast food version, but it gives you the idea.

I had poutine for the first time in Toronto over the summer. It's sooooooo yummy.

Perhaps you can find a restaurant that serves "East Coast" or I guess "Eastish" fare?

Feenie's on West Broadway is long gone since Rob Feenie was forced out of his 2 restaurants
Lumiere and Feenie's since Nov 2007.

The 2 restaurants are being renovated and replaced by another restaurant owned by Daniel Boulud from New York.


Poutine aka Canada's Self-Made Heart Attack in a Bowl is not that easy to find in the West. But may be try Fritz European Fry House

I hope this isn't too late. There is a small deli style restaurant in the 500 block West Broadway, I would guess 520 W. Broadway, near Cambie St. that has very good Poutine, as stated by my friend from Montreal

Nope, it's not too late. I haven't been to Vancouver in a long time & it'll be some time until I go. So there's still plenty of time to collect all the info I can on poutine in Vancouver.

LOST IT!!! Last month, I was going over several menus on-line & found one which offers poutine & eggs for breakfast. Now I can't remember which one it was. It's of a cafe in the Chinatown/Gastown area. I think it might have been Ovaltine Cafe or Deacon's Corner but I can't find their websites anywhere. Do any of you, in that area, know?
