I've been researching quite a bit, and it seems most of the "camping" done on Crete is within the confines of an "establishment". Further, these camping establishments do not seem to be situated in an interesting or captivating area.

I had hoped to land in Chania airport, catch a bus to a small remote town (Souda, or something similar), and then setup camp on the beach for a few days. I have yet to find a similar story like this...am I the first person to be interested by this? Does anyone have any opinions or suggestions on a great beach, close to Chania, they would suggest to stay on for Friday + Saturday night?
