I think all parents love anything that helps ease many of the 'hardships' of traveling with children. Slate.com reviews some of the best and worst travel gear for families. Check it out.

Best (and worst) Travel Gear For Parents

My personal fave, which I don't own, is the Sit n' Stroll. Now that looks handy!

I don't really get why you would need to bring a car seat onto the plane?

I like the Trunki though. I want one for myself!

Well, it's extra straps for one thing; the kid will stay in. If it's a young baby, then that's the only way to go. Also, if you are going to be travelling by car at all on your trip, then you have your own car seat.

Kit: Ohhhhhhhh gotchya...that is SO inconvenient. Do car rental companies rent car seats too?

Oh sure, Louise, you can rent them. It just depends on what you want and the kind of trip you're taking, etc. Some people will just want to use their own. Some people will even use theirs for taxis also.

When my son was just over a year, we flew to Seattle and met my in-laws up there. He flew in his car seat. We rented an Expedition (there were 7 of us) and we drove all up through Vancouver, Whistler, Victoria, Whidbey Island, and back to Seattle. And my son had his own car seat that he was used to. It wasn't inconvenient at all.

Does it count as a carry-on? Or as one of your two bags you are allowed?

Wow, my son is 8 now. I don't believe it was then. Not sure if it would be now. I really don't think so though, but maybe someone with a baby NOW can answer that for us for sure. smile.gif

Good point. Anybody else know about carseats on airlines?

As far as I know it straps right into the airplane seat. Our carseat is (I forget the designation) but it's approved by the aviation commission (or something) for the baby to fly in with the base ofcourse.

Ohhhhhh, I see, yeah I guess that wouldn't count as a carryon then, because it doesn't take up space in the overhead compartment...

<--- duh
