It is true dear Indesec that both restaurants you mentioned make the difference.
I have been in both these restaurants when in Ruse for a week.
The first one serves good food as you say,and the inside decor is traditional. And yes, I remember when there, my husband and one friend of ours were served and I had to wait and wait for my dish to come. But the result is great. In other times, I was served, and the rest had to wait.
In the meantime, you can have a small portion from the other people, and get an idea what to order next time you are there! But I think it is ok to wait a bit, especially if it so nicesly decorated with nice music.
Besides, if you want to be served a nice dish, you have to make a sacrifice!
The second one you mentioned -The Happy Grill and Bar - it was my spot especially for lunch. Somebody can eat for just 3 or 4 euros the most, including beer.
My favourite was the mixed vegetables. It is very centrally located and cannot be missed.
There were many different menues to pick from, and I have the best memories to remember. I used to order huge glasses of beer and have different menus because they were really so cheap.
And have the best words to say about Ruse. It is beautiful and worth visiting.
One negative from Ruse though, is that the people working at the place where my husband used to be the Director for some months, were Soooo Lazy, and did not know the work well.
They could not take the initiative, and they were lazy. They don't use their minds to do things.
Ruse is a place that I will happily return, even spend months there.
To get to Ruse, I had to fly to Bucarest airport, and from there I was picked by a Taxi (luckily paid by the company) more than 120 euros, which was waiting for me, only to be driven all the way through the capital of Romania, and off to the boarders of Bulgaria where Ruse is.
But I have the best memories from this beautiful city.
(Another nice spot by the way is dinner at the Hayatt hotel)
With just 28 euros, for three persons, we had a superb dinner, and an unforgettable night!
