Bull fighting in Spain.

The spectacle of bullfighting has existed in one form or another since ancient days
Bullfights were popular spectacles in ancient Rome, but it was in the Iberian Peninsula that these contests were fully developed.

Six bulls, to be killed by 3 matadors, are usually required for one afternoon’s corrida, and each encounter lasts about 15 minutes.

The blade must go between the shoulder blades; because the space between them is very small, it is imperative that the front feet of the bull be together as the matador hurtles over the horns. The kill, properly done by aiming straight over the bull’s horns and plunging the sword between its withers into the aorta region, requires discipline, training, and raw courage; for this reason it is know as the “moment of truth”.

Tell us how you feel about bullfighting in Spain.
Could you stand the sight of seeing such a scene? Killing animals in such cruel way, and people applauding!!!
In Asia, they have birds and cocks fighting! Isn't it cruel?
Even if I had a free ticket, I would not go in there. What about you?

I agree with you and have absolutely no desire to see any animals suffer no matter what the country. I would not, and do not, support such activities at all!

I'm with both of you, I understand the "its tradition" argument but its cruel, unnecessary, and i will never part take in such suffering. I feel animals have more of a right to be here then most people.

I saw it on TV once and I wasn't impressed.

I guess I can understand how it's entertaining for people. It's similar to watching Ultimate Fighting, except the animal has no chance of defending itself and the animal hasn't given its consent to fighting. Also, the bull dies at the end and ultimate fighters don't (usually).

I live here but don't agree with it. On my honeymoon I went alone in 1971 to see one in Benidorm. Never again. At least I have been to one. I have a friend who goes to them all! It is, in my opinion barbaric and to me the Matador is no hero after his side-kicks have half slaughtered the bull anyway!
