Protests and closure of airport

Looking at BBC this morning it seems the whole airport is shut down and the protesters have control. Obviously a problem if you're flying home but flights on route will just be diverted to Chiang Mai/Phuket.

If you up for some island lifestyle head over to Koh Tao the beaches are great with crystal clear water, and awesome dive spots. Then for a more culture focused activity you could do a homestay in Mae Kom Phong in Chiang Mai.
