Myanmar is pretty straightforward really - temples, temples and more temples. Definitely spend a few days in Yangon (the nightlife is interesting if you can hook up with people at your hostel) and Bagan and Inle Lake are other must sees. I would have ...

I have heard Bagan has a questionable safety record although this is not confirmed. However, you may want to try and check that out. I would also look into alternate flight options with the other Myranmar airlines and another travel agent.

What's a GSA? I'd say, do the deposit like they want, but keep your receipts and if they try and steal money from you, show the people who work at Air Bagan.

Actually, after the earthquake in arounfd 75, the Junta have been rebuilding the old ones with new bricks, and it certainly looked like they were build brand new o0nes when we were in. The new ones were being built in a typical Bagan style

I agree with Lucky that Syria is great, but Myanmar is my favourite SEA country. The people are so nice and you can not beat Bagan as the premier temple attraction. And while you are in the Middle East, just around the corner from Syria is Iran. Great ...
