Luang Prabang has many options. One of the top of the line ones I remember seeing was $40USD a night. But it had nothing more then the beautiful guesthouses along the river which was much cheaper.

You are right that going by bus from Vientiane to Hanoi can take that long 23-24 hours, the fact if the bus go straight then it wouldn't take that long, the bus leaves Vientiane 7 am then arrive the border 2 am, the bus stop there and wait till the ...

websites that I believe have the most accommodation options are www.luang-prabang-hotels.com and www.vientiane-hotel-link.com Tiger Trails and Green Discovery would be my recommendations for tour operators.

I spent a few weeks in Luang Prabang and it was often worse than this. It broke my heart to see too. At one point the monks couldn't actually make their way through to where they were going as they were practically blocked by idiot tourists thrusting ...

The departure tax is now included in your ticket price so you do not need to worry about this anymore. Temp in Luang Prabang in November can get quite chilly in the evenings, a sweatshirt is definitely recommended. Days tend to be quite sunny still ...
